Oh well I have messed up my blog site. I thought my blogs were ending up on my site but I don’t know where they were going.  Anyways I figured it out but now they posts are all out of order.  Do you think this matters? I hope not.

I lost my last post. I wish I knew what I did.  Anyways it was a good one.  The topic is cell phones.  Some people do not use  good manners with their cell phones.  They ring in during movies, at restaurants, during meetings.  So my school feels the need to set up rules for cell phone use in meetings.  I find this amazing that professionals do not use manners with cell phones.  My question is how many have emergencies where they need to have their phones on in meetings.  I have had 4 emergencies my entire life and the place where I worked forward the call to my classroom.  So I wonder how important are all these calls that people just need to respond to during meetings.

I was using my delicious accounts to work on my lessons plans.  I found some of the sites I listed took for ever to download so I stopped them.  I don’t remember those sites taking so long at school.  I wonder if it is just that my computer is slow.

I just learned today that a teacher who I taught with just got a postion as a technology teacher at a middle school.  She finished this Lesly program last year around Nov. I think.  When she started this program she was extremely technology illiterate.  Like me.  So if she is able to teach this after her masters than I guess there is hope for me. I think that says a lot about this master’s program.

Well I was at an inservice today to learn how to teach math at 3rd grade level.  It looks to be not too difficult.  The big problem is when we want to put the children on a computer and we only have three in the classroom. I have always used the computer as a learning station where each child gets on the computer once a week.  This is not enough.  They also go to the computer lab once a week.  There is some open time in the lab so I will try to sign up more often to integrate more technology in their week.  I also realize that not many students have computers at home so school is the only place to practice.

My question for the day is how does one learn and understand legacy to be able to implement and how does one forcast the future to prepare their students?  When you have not grown up using technology it is hard to comprehend what is being used and how to use it; let alone understand how this will effect the future.  I am amazed how some of you just understand what the teacher is talking about when I still am trying to figure out the language let alone how to use it.  Ok I will quit complaining and keep learning at my pace.

I just lost my 5th entry, don’t know why.  Anyways, I figured out how to comment on other blogs yea.  Mr. Prensky’s article created a lot of questions in my mind.  I will not be at the next class, but I would love to hear a discussion about the article.  I discussed it with other people. The response was disagreement, fear of change to discussing what this might look like in a classroom.  I am interested in reading more articles by Mr. Prensky.

3rd. blog article

I have been remiss in blogging.  I read the article we were suppose to read and it made me laugh as I so recognized myself as a digital immigrant.  It makes me realize how out of it I am.  My concern is how to  become literate enough to be a help to my students rather than a hinderance.  My sister read the article and she wanted to defend the old school position.  She also was not laughing as she read the article.  She fears technology.

This was so difficult.  My notes from class did not help me to figure out how to get back here.  After a good hour of trying different usernames and passwords, I finally figured it out.  I think I need more practice in class and a better understanding of what I am doing.
